We are honored to announce Professor Kim Lane Scheppele will be the featured speaker for Chautauqua Institution’s 21st annual Robert H. Jackson Lecture on the Supreme Court of the United States, on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the Hall of Philosophy.
Professor Scheppele (SHEP-uh-lee, if you were struggling with the pronunciation) is the Laurance S. Rockefeller Professor of Sociology and International Affairs in the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University. She is also a faculty fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Her primary field is the sociology of law and she specializes in ethnographic and archival research on courts and public institutions. She is one of the leading U.S. and global experts on authoritarian uses of power, including courts.
Attending the lecture is free, but you must procure a Chautauqua grounds pass to enter the Institution.
