Community Conversations: The Freedom and Responsibilities of Citizenship

September 24 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

This month’s Community Conversation on “The Freedom and Responsibilities of Citizenship” will be led by led by Joe Murphy, Director of Grant-Making at Humanities New York (HNY), and is part of the Humanities Discussion series, “A New Agora for New York: Museums as Spaces for Democracy,” organized by the Museum Association of New York.

Community Conversation programs provide an opportunity for people to come together for thoughtful discussion about our shared values as Americans—past, present, and future. They are one-off, text-based discussions led by a facilitator. The text (or image or artifact) tackles an important aspect of life in a democracy, and conversation is anchored in a list of questions to encourage frank dialogue. Community Conversations allow New Yorkers to join in discussions that offer an alternative to received wisdom and provide the chance to take part in a shared community dialogue.

Registration is requested. Please contact info@roberthjackson.org or call (716) 483-6646 for more information.
